A rundown of ISU Athletics

From gymnastics to wrestling, Iowa State offers a wide array of sports for its students to enjoy. As a new ISU student, going to a sporting event is the perfect way to meet new people. The events can also serve as much-needed breaks from your schoolwork. 

Regardless of how much you like sports, you should go to at least one sporting event during your first year at Iowa State. To help with that, we’ve compiled some important information you need to know about the different sporting events Iowa State offers. 

Men’s basketball:

When: the regular season runs from November to March. The 2011-2012 regular schedule will be released in fall semester.

Where: Hilton Coliseum

Student season tickets — $125

Single-game tickets

  • Non-Conference, 200 level (sides) — $16
  • Non-Conference, 200 level (corners and end) — $10
  • Big 12, 200 level (sides) — $25
  • Big 12, 200 level (corners and end) — $15
Women’s basketball

When: the regular season is November to March. The 2011-2012 regular schedule will be released this fall.

Cross country
When: The 2011-2012 season begins in September and ends in November.

Where: Cross Country Course, Lied Recreation Center (in inclement weather)

Football
When: Regular season is September through December. The first game is versus Northern Iowa, and is on Sept. 3. Family weekend is Oct. 8, and the cyclones play Texas. Homecoming is Oct. 22, and the cyclones play Texas A&M. The Cyclones play their last home game Nov. 18 against Oklahoma State.

Men’s golf
When: Season begins in September and ends in June with the NCAA Championships. The first event is the Wolverine Intercollegiate, which takes place in Ann Arbor, Mich. from Sept. 12 to 13.

Where: Team practices at Veenker Memorial Golf Course. 

Price: Free

Women’s golf

When: Season begins in September and ends in May with the NCAA West Regional. The first event is the Wolverine Intercollegiate at Ann Arbor, Mich. Sept. 11 to 12.

Where: Team practices at Veenker Memorial Golf Course.

Gymnastics:
When: Season begins in January and ends in April.

Swimming and diving
When: The meet is Sept. 30, and the last home meet of the regular season is Feb. 4. The NCAA Championship runs from March 14 to 17.

Track and field
When: The season runs from early December to late June

Volleyball
When: The first match of the 2011-2012 season is Aug. 20. The last home match is Nov. 26. The NCCA Championship runs from Dec. 15 to 17.
