Iowa State Daily adviser inducted into College Media Advisers Hall of Fame

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Mark Witherspoon, editorial adviser of the Iowa State Daily, was inducted into the College Media Advisers Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 29.
Witherspoon, who students refer to as “Spoon,” has been the adviser of the Daily since 1999. Prior to that, he was an adviser for student media at Southern Methodist University and Texas Christian University.
Currently, Witherspoon is a member of the Board of Directors of the Student Press Law Center. He also serves as a chairman of the First Amendment Committee and editor of “Keeping Free Presses Free.”
The awards ceremony was held as part of the Associated Collegiate Presss/College Media Advisers Fall 2010 National College Media Convention. Witherspoon has previously served as president of College Media Advisers.
Several Daily staff members and professional employees were in attendance at the induction ceremony, along with Witherspoon’s family.
