HOCKEY: Five goal second period fuels Cyclone victory

The Cyclone Hockey team continued to roll as it beat Indiana on Friday night 8-2. Iowa State scored three goals in the first followed by five in the second.
The Cyclones ability to score quickly was the ultimate decider in thie game. The Cyclones got their first goal at the 11:36 mark in the first period and scored another goal a little more than a minute later.
The Cyclones went into the locker room at the end of the first period leading 3-1. At the drop of the puck at start of the second period, Iowa State took control of the puck and fired at the net, scoring 11 seconds into the period.
In the pervious games this season, the power play has worked out well for the Cyclones, whereas tonight’s highlight was scoring shorthanded goals. They got one in the first period and two in the second. The two in the second were scored 12 seconds apart from each other.
Erik Hudson started the game at goalie for the Cyclones and went three periods saving 28 out of 30 shots.
Iowa State will be back in action Saturday night hosting Indiana again.
