The final day of the 2025 NFL Draft took place Saturday, as the remaining draft-eligible Cyclones looked to hear their names called.
However, only one Iowa State player got to hear their name called in Green Bay, while the rest of the Cyclones signed deals as undrafted free agents (UDFA).
Jalen Travis
The last Cyclone to get their name called was Travis, as he was selected 127th overall in the fourth round by the Indianapolis Colts.
Heading into draft season, Travis was projected to be drafted on day three, but in the later rounds, mainly the sixth or seventh.
But after impressive performances at the Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine, Travis’ draft stock skyrocketed to end up being taken in the fourth round by an Indianapolis team that has been known to develop talent along the offensive line.
With the addition of Travis, the Colts get a strong tackle who can work his way up onto the starting line and provide an instant impact.
Stevo Klotz
Following Travis’ selection to Indianapolis, no other Iowa State player would find their way onto an NFL roster via the draft.
Once the draft was officially over, any undrafted players were free to sign with whatever team they wanted as UDFA’s.
The first Cyclone to do so was Klotz, as he signed a deal with the Los Angeles Chargers.
In his time with Iowa State, Klotz recorded 15 catches for 149 yards and two touchdowns. Along with that, Klotz recorded two rushes for 22 yards and two tackles.
Primarily playing as a fullback, Klotz looks to add his talents to an up-and-coming Chargers team.
Jarrod Hufford
Shortly following Klotz’s signing, Hufford found his way onto an NFL roster by signing a deal with the Las Vegas Raiders.
With this deal, Hufford joins recently drafted teammate, defensive back Darien Porter, who was taken 68th overall in the third round by the Raiders on day two of the draft.
Despite Las Vegas drafting two offensive linemen on Friday, Hufford looks to earn a roster spot on a Raiders team that gave up 50 sacks in 2024.
J.R. Singleton
The Cyclones lone defensive lineman that was eligible to be drafted was Singleton, who signed a deal with the Seattle Seahawks.
During his time with Iowa State, the longtime defensive captain in Singleton recorded 74 total tackles, 27 solo tackles, 7.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and a pass defended.
While Seattle did not draft a defensive lineman over the course of the three day draft, Singleton is an option that the Seahawks could potentially use for the upcoming season.
Myles Purchase
Another pairing of Iowa State teammates found their way together, as Purchase followed suit with Klotz by signing a deal with the Chargers.
In his time as a Cyclone, Purchase put up 145 total tackles, 92 solo tackles, 24 passes defended, a sack, a forced fumble and an interception. Along with the defensive stats, Purchase returned six kicks for 104 yards.
With Los Angeles not drafting any defensive backs, Purchase looks to join Klotz by making a spot on the official roster for the Chargers.
Malik Verdon
The final Cyclone to sign with an NFL team was Verdon, who inked a deal with the Atlanta Falcons.
Unlike Klotz, Hufford, Singleton and Purchase, Verdon had the opportunity to participate at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, but was only limited to two drills.
Because of this, along with dealing with a forearm injury, Verdon ended up going undrafted.
During his time with Iowa State, Verdon collected 133 total tackles, 67 solo tackles, 10 passes deflected, three interceptions and a sack and forced fumble.
In the end, it didn’t take long for Verdon to sign with an NFL team, as he takes his talents to an Atlanta team that had already taken two safeties in the draft.
Verdon will look to compete his way through some tough competition and potentially earn a roster spot for the Falcons in the fall.
