Gymnasts achieve season-high scores in victories over Illinois, Northern Illinois
The 10th-ranked ISU gymnastics team (9-4) earned season-high scores on uneven bars (49.375) and vault (49.350), as well as a season-high final team score (196.425) Sunday in a victorious effort over Northern Illinois and the hosting team No. 24 Illinois.
The Cyclones also racked up a number of individual honors to go with their team accomplishments. Senior Janet Anson took first place in the vault, floor exercise and all-around, while senior Katie Lasher tied for first in the uneven bars. Freshman Katie Sweetin took second place on balance beam and floor exercise.

Cyclone men’s hockey rolls over Minnesota
The Cyclone Hockey team played its final home series this weekend against Division 2 Minnesota before a crowd of about 1,000 fans, sweeping the Gophers 10-0 on Friday and 9-1 on Saturday. Bill Adolph highlighted Friday night’s game with a hat trick, and senior Jason Brown scored two goals in the final home game of his career. ÿ
Brown, along with senior goaltender Trent Baker, were scheduled to miss Saturday’s game to play in the CSCHL All-Star Game on Saturday in Champaign, Ill., but were unable to make the trip because of weather.
The No. 6 Cyclones (30-8-2) leave Monday night for Youngstown, Ohio, where they begin ACHA National Tournament action at 7 p.m. Wednesday against West Chester University.

Rough start continues for ISU softball
A rough weekend for the ISU softball team ended with a no-hitter.
The Cyclones were no-hit Sunday morning by Houston pitcher Angel Shamblin in Houston’s 4-0 win. The loss for the Cyclones was their fourth of the weekend.
Iowa State went 1-4 at the Marriott Houston Hobby Invitational, with a 6-2 win over McNeese State the lone bright spot of the weekend. The win over McNeese State ended an eight-game losing streak.
The Cyclones are just 3-12 for the spring season and head back on the road to try and improve their record at the Great Western Downtown Plaza Classic in Tulsa, Okla. next weekend.
