From learning which fork to use at a dinner party to networking with prospective employers, College of Business students will have a chance to prepare for life after graduation during Business Week.

Business Week, two weeks of events designed to help College of Business students prepare for post-ISU life, will run from Sunday until Sept. 23.

Business Week allows students to interact with recruiters, said Ben Chamberlain, academic advisor in the business undergraduate program.

“It is a great chance to connect and get involved,” he said.

Included in Business Week are a barbecue, free concert, golf tournament, fashion show, formal and etiquette dinner.

Several speakers and seminars will help prepare students for the career fair.

Some of the topics to be covered include personal branding, interviewing and internships.

Some of the events are free and a few are only open to business students.

The barbecue, which is open to business students only, will take place at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday near the Gerdin Business Building.

The fashion show, which is open to all students, will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in room 1148 in Gerdin. Admission is $3.

A concert, which is open to all students, will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday south of the Campanile.

Business Week is a good opportunity for students to take advantage of the free things on campus, said Gina Heithoff, senior in accounting and Business Week co-chairwoman.

“It is a great opportunity to have fun and get involved, interact with and meet new people,” she said.

Many ISU alumni who attend Business Week will also attend the career fair, Chamberlain said.

“I look forward to seeing everyone’s hard work pay off,” Heithoff said.
