ISU players to watch

Jackson:

Meyer:

Blythe:

DeAndre Jackson

Defensive Back

The ISU defense has suffered a lot of bad mouthing during the offseason, and with Jackson being the lone returning starter in the defensive backfield for the Cyclones, it is up to him to lead the newcomers and keep the pundits’ predictions from coming to fruition.

Bret Meyer

Quarterback

Meyer is the unquestioned leader of the offense at quarterback for the Cyclones and is dealing with preseason hype for the first time. After several publications tabbed him as the Big 12’s top quarterback, Meyer has big expectations to live up to.

Todd Blythe

Wide Receiver

At 6 feet, 5 inches, Blythe is the ISU go-to guy and the most visible target for opposing defenses. The success of what may be one of the best receiving corps in the conference will hinge on frequent touches from Blythe, who is more than a full year past a 2005 ACL injury.
