A Nevada man sentenced to 52 years in jail for burglary and sexual abuse has appealed the decision, according to court records.

David Morrow was convicted in November of sexually assaulting an Ames woman in her home in July.

He was sentenced Jan. 6 to 25 years in jail for first-degree burglary, 25 years for second-degree sexual assault and one year for harassment. He was also sentenced to an additional year for a separate assault charge.

Morrow’s attorney, Paul Rounds, filed the appeal on Wednesday to the Supreme Court of Iowa on behalf of his client.

According to staff reports, prosecutor Mary Howell Sirna was pleased with the original sentence.
