`Machine’ lasts test of time in new edition

Matthew Carlson

The secrets of the future have been revealed to one man. If you do not interrupt him, he will tell you the story.

“The Time Machine” by H.G. Wells tells the fascinating story of the Time Traveler and his journey to the year 802,701 A.D.

The Time Traveler has invented a machine that he claims can travel backward and forward in time.

His guests do not believe in his theory, and they are not convinced by his preliminary tests.

Eight days later the guests would return, and he would have an amazing tale to tell.

The Time Traveler chooses not to go back in time.

Instead, he travels into the future, where he encounters a strange people.

The Eloi are a small delicate race that live in peace. Earth is no longer divided by cultural boundaries. What remains is a race that appears to live in harmony with one another.

The Time Traveler finds no trace of war or hardship. The Eloi live in absolute luxury.

Earth has become a paradise – on the surface. Below the ground, living in tunnels are the Morlocks.

The Morlocks are also descendants of humans, but they do all the work that allows the Eloi to live in peace.

The Time Traveler is forced to interact with the Morlocks after his time machine is stolen.

He discovers the terrible truth about the Morlocks and sees the real danger the Eloi live in.

The fascination with time travel has been part of popular culture for as long as anyone can remember.

H.G. Wells wrote “The Time Machine” in 1895. Since then Hollywood has produced many films dealing with time travel.

George Pal turned “The Time Machine” into a movie in 1969.

This March, “The Time Machine” will once again be released as a movie, starring Guy Pearce.

The new version of “The Time Machine” is directed by Simon Wells, the great-grandson of H.G. Wells.

H.G. Wells is considered the father of modern science fiction writing. “The Time Machine” itself has been considered the model for all science fiction stories.

The story itself is rather short, yet much detail is placed in this 140-page book.

Wells wants the reader to think about what kind of future we are leaving for our children and our children’s children.

The story should not be taken as entertainment only.

The reader should feel a conviction to change his ways and make a better future.

“The Time Machine” has held an impact for over 100 years. In a way the book itself is a time machine.
