Single-car accident sends pedestrian to hospital
March 3, 2000
A single-car accident near the intersection of Sunset Drive and Beach Avenue Tuesday sent one Ames man to the hospital.
Kirsten Greenough, junior in elementary education, was driving her 1994 Honda Civic north on Beach Avenue at about 7 p.m. Tuesday when she struck James Supple, 129 Ash Ave., who was walking east through the intersection’s crosswalk, said Sgt. Randy Kessel, public information officer for the Ames Police Department.
Supple was transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center by paramedics, Kessel said.
Joshua Porter, Mary Greeley spokesman, said Supple was in fair condition at the hospital as of Thursday afternoon. Greenough was not injured in the accident.
Kessel said Greenough told police she did not notice Supple until he was about 10 feet in front of her, and Supple told police he did not remember being hit. Kessel said Ames Police do not have plans to press any charges related to the accident.
