Rodeo Club members round up for annual Cowboy Ball

ISU Rodeo Club members will be putting on their cowboy boots to dance the night away tonight.

The ISU Rodeo Club will hold its annual Cowboy Ball at 7 p.m. in the Sun Room of the Memorial Union. The night will start with a banquet, followed by a dance at 8 p.m.

“The dance is a time for our members to get together and have some fun,” said Tom Frink, president of the club. “Our members do a lot of hard work, and it is a good time for them.”

The dance is for Rodeo Club members, alumni and the public, said Frink, junior in agricultural education.

The dance is also a good opportunity for the public to learn about the club, said Marie Chase, chairwoman of the ball.

“It also serves as a fund-raiser to raise money for the team and next year’s Cowboy Ball,” said Chase, sophomore in animal science. She said both the club and team members appreciate the support.

The attire for the night is either western wear or semi-formal dress, Frink said. There is usually a good representation of both at the event.

Attendance has varied in the past depending on how many alumni are in attendance, Frink said.

“This year looks like we are going to have pretty good attendance and a lot of fun,” he said. “We hope everybody can attend and come have a good time with us.”

This year’s dinner menu includes a manicotti dish along with barbecue pork, said Chase, sophomore in animal science.

Prices for the dance and dinner are as follows: $12 per person for banquet and dance, $7 per couple for the dance only or $5 per person for the dance only.
