Be supportive of ISU

Heather Nelson

After reading Brian Coen’s letter to the editor (Dec. 11), I really feel the need to address his “comments.”

First, Mr. Coen, you’re a freshman. You should have been here when Jim Walden was around. I think the football program has come a long way, but there’s still a lot that needs to be done if ISU is ever going to have a superior football team. After all, Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Secondly, I’m not sure what purpose your letter was trying to accomplish — insulting Chad Calek or the football team?

Take your pick, but I’m sure it could have been done in more constructive, meaningful ways.

Finally, from the tone of your letter, you sound more like a Cornhusker fan than a Cyclone one. Claiming ISU football is an embarrassment to the university, etc., doesn’t sound very supportive.

You don’t see Chad Calek out there telling the world we suck — and who cares if we do?

Calek is a real Cyclone fan … he keeps the faith alive. For that, I’m grateful.
