Ames Police Department investigate reports of shots fired near campustown

A report of shots fired near Campustown is being investigated by the Ames Police Department. 

Officers were called 11 p.m. Saturday, to the 300 block of Lynn Avenue on a report of shots fired. Shell casings were found on the roadway when officers arrived, according to a news release

No injuries were reported. 

“At this time we do not believe this was a random incidence and there is not an on-going threat to the public,” according to the news release. 

The Ames Police Department is currently investigating this incident.
