Cyclone Hockey wins 4-3 in first game against Alabama

Cyclone Hockey was back on the ice Friday night in their first of two games at home against Alabama, in which the Cyclones picked up a 4-3 win.

Alabama started the game with goals from Taylor Joseph and Thomas Godfrey, giving them a 2-0 lead throughout the first period.

Senior forward Adam Alcott and sophomore forward Jared Erickson started the second period by tying the game at 2-2.

Alabama’s Jacob Nau started the third period by giving Alabama a 3-2 lead after scoring two minutes into the third.

Cyclone’s freshman defensemen Jake Joyaux answered with a goal of his own, tying the game at 3-3.

Fresh off a penalty kill, the Cyclones scored a power play goal courtesy of senior defensemen Kurt Halbach, giving the Cyclones a 4-3 lead. The Cyclones held on to the lead for the remainder of the game, winning the first game of the series.

The Cyclones will face off with Alabama again at home on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
