BREAKING Aug. 24 at 3:45 pm.

A fire at the power plant that cools many of the facilities on campus caught fire Thursday, and as a result, could cause disruptions to the cooling on campus.

With temperatures expected to sit just below 100 degrees in Ames over the weekend according to the National Weather Service, classes have been advised to move to an online setting. Veterinary Medicine classes were not canceled due to the cooling system not impacting the facility.

All campus activities taking place Thursday have been canceled.

Students living on campus have been advised by the university to leave campus for the weekend, but for those who cannot, faculty will be finding ways to assist.
