Collin Daniel Richards’ family releases statement on death of Celia Barquín Arozamena

The family of Collin Daniel Richards, the man charged with first-degree murder in the death of Celia Barquín Arozamena, released a statement Thursday asking people to give them space.

Richards’ family said they were mourning along with the rest of the community.

“We are devastated by the tragedy that occurred Monday at Coldwater Golf Links,” according to the press release from the family. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Celia Barquin Arozamena. We are mourning with you.”

The family also requested for people to not reach out to them for comment on the incident.

“We ask the public to please respect our privacy at this time,” according to the press release. “We will not be granting media interviews.”

Richards is currently being held on a $5 million cash bond at the Story County Jail and is awaiting a preliminary hearing on Sept. 28.
