One resident was treated for minor burns after a fire broke out at 2825 Ontario St. Ames around 1:16 p.m. Sunday, as stated in a release from the City of Ames.
According to a release from the Ames Fire Department, all occupants of the duplex were accounted for after a fire broke out in a second-floor bedroom. The investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing. A cat was also safely removed from the building.
Four of the residents of the duplex are currently not able to occupy the unit due to the fire, and they are being assisted by the American Red Cross, the release states.
