A local food festival dubbed “An Adventure in Eating” will be held on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. between Beardshear and Curtiss Hall on Central Campus.

The event will feature educational displays, food samples, Iowa State dining chef’s recipes using local foods as well as locally grown and produced products for sale by Iowa State clubs and local vendors.

An “Adventure in Eating” started in 2015 and happens every September, it is sponsored by the Local Foods Program.

Campus chefs also select produce from the ISU Horticulture Research Station to include recipes that will be served at the festival.

Lynn Huess, festival coordinator and employee of Local Foods Program, said about 2,500 students and faculty members attend the event.

The festival will have tents to encourage a healthy lifestyle by showing easy ways to incorporate local foods into your diet. There will also be activities to engage students and faculty to grow a connection with the community.

ISU Recreation Services will be offering free bike tune ups.

Some vendors to look for include Burgies Coffee, ISU Dairy Science Club, ISU Produce Safety Team and ISU WellBeing.
