The Iowa State women’s golf team took the course Sunday to finish the Stanford Intercollegiate. The Cyclones finished in seventh with a combined score of 870, shooting 292 in two rounds and a tournament-low 287 in the closing stages.
Iowa State freshman Nichakorn Pinprayoon led the Cyclones in scoring with rounds of 69, 74 and 66. Her performance landed her in a tie for 10th place. Juniors Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn and Pammy Chookaew cracked the top 40, Chookaew in 36th with 218 and Chul-Ak-Sorn in 34th with 217.
Pinprayoon shot a bogey-free round on the tournament’s third day and added three birdies and an eagle to an already impressive outing. This was her first top-10 finish this season, something the Cyclones will look to build on moving forward.
With the seventh-place finish as a team, Iowa State has made three top-10 finishes in its opening four tournament appearances. The Cyclones placed 11th earlier this season in the Windy City Classic.
Now, the fall season has concluded for the Iowa State women. The Cyclones will be back in action Feb. 2 in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, for the Puerto Rico Classic hosted by Purdue.
