Ames Police have made a fourth arrest after a man was fatally shot on the evening of Jan. 18 on South 5th Street.
The victim, identified on Jan. 21, was Parker L. Stoneburner, age 25. Officers arrived at the scene around 6:30 p.m. after reports of an emergency and found Stoneburner suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Mary Greeley Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
An updated press release stated on Wednesday that the U.S. Marshals Service, North Star Fugitive Task Force, arrested Nashawn Green, age 19. Green was arrested for murder in the first degree, a class A felony.
A class A felony is the most serious type of felony, and the maximum punishment is life imprisonment and, in some cases, death.
In an interview with the Daily, Major Jason Tuttle said police and investigators believe Green is the last suspect directly implicated in the investigation.
“We believe this is the fourth and final suspect that we were searching for as part of the murder investigation, at least the principal people involved in it,” Tuttle said.
On Feb. 24, the Midwest Violent Fugitive Task Force in Independence, Missouri, arrested Zoe Anderson, 21, and Abraham Guhnics, 19, for First Degree Murder.
Additionally, in late January, Destiny Skurdal, age 19, of Ames, Iowa, was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery, which is a class B felony.
According to previous reporting from the Daily, Tuttle said investigators believe that Skurdal conspired with Guhnics and Anderson to rob Parker, and during that robbery, he was assaulted and shot.
“We certainly hope this helps Parker’s family continue to heal from what happened, and we want to bring justice in the name of Parker and his family so that we can hold these people accountable,” Tuttle said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ames Police Department at (515) 239-5133 or the anonymous tip line at (515) 239-5533. Tips can also be submitted online through Crime Stoppers of Central Iowa.
“If anyone else has any other information, or information was passed on by one of these four main suspects, we’d like to talk to them,” Tuttle said.
