The Cyclones women’s golf team’s second event of the spring season went about as perfectly as it could, with the Cyclones claiming their first team victory since the 2025 Wyoming Cowgirl Classic and Nichakorn Pinprayoon winning the individual boards.
The Cyclones dominated the team board, shooting +6, -7 and -1 across three rounds, which closed out the Cyclones on a score of -2. Iowa State shot 39 shots better than the second-place Nebraska Cornhuskers, who shot +37.
Iowa State had the best score for every round at the event, with its first round being its worst, ending with a combined score of +6. Pinprayoon had the best score for the Cyclones round one golfing -3 with five birdies to her name.
The second round was the best for the Cyclones, finishing -7 on the round. Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn, Pinprayoon, Pammy Chookaew and Isabella Yan all shot even or better.
A notable moment from the second round of the Montana State golfer, Norah Seidl. The junior was top of the board for over an hour during the second round after she hit a hole-in-one on the par 3 hole 8, the first hole-in-one of her career and the first of the season for the Bobcats.
The second round was suspended due to a lack of lighting and resumed Tuesday morning.
In round three, the Cyclones finished with a team score of -1, with Pinprayoon leading the way, scoring two birdies and not going over par on a single hole.
Iowa State topped the event with a score of -2, ahead of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, who shot +37. Cincinnati of the Big 12 closed out the top three on a score of +39.
The Cyclones dominated on the individual table with sophomore Pinprayoon, finishing first on the individual table, finishing with a score of -6. This marks the first Cyclone to win an event as an individual since September 2025, when Chookaew won the Wolverine Invitational.
This is notably Pinprayoon’s first-ever victory. The golfer’s best ever results before this came back-to-back at the end of the 2025 spring season, with third-place results in both the Bama Beach Bash in Gulf Shores, Alabama and the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic in Maricopa, Arizona.
For the rest of the individual boards, Chul-Ak-Sorn finished second on 75-67-71 for a score of -3, having the best individual round on the field, going -5 on round two.
Chul-Ak-Sorn and Pinprayoon were the only two golfers out of the field of 81 to golf under par. Pinprayoon also complemented her victory by being the only golfer to end all three rounds under par.
Chookaew claimed fourth on the individual table, shooting 73-71-74 closing on +2. Yan finished four spots behind Chookaew in eighth, shooting 77-72-72, finishing the event at +5.
Keeley Marx, who was golfing as an individual for the Cyclones, tied for 18th on 74-79-73 closing on a score of +10.
Alexandra Vidal and Marx both tied for 18th, finishing with a score of +10. Marx, who was golfing as an individual, shot 74-79-73 and Vidal shot 77-75-74.
The next event for Iowa State comes on Feb. 23 and 24, for the Chevron Collegiate hosted by the University of Houston. The event will be played at The Golf Course of Houston in Humble, Texas.
