Iowa State’s home woes finally came to an end as the Cyclones took care of Texas Tech 69-57 on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams got off to a fast start, and within three minutes the score was tied at nine. Iowa State had balanced scoring in the first 10 minutes, with four players scoring four or more points. Iowa State led 22-14 after the first.

Texas Tech twice got within two points of the Cyclones in the second quarter, but a 6-0 run capped by a Kristin Scott jumper pushed the lead back to eight. Iowa State led 42-28 at the break.

Junior guard Bridget Carleton led the Cyclones with 15 points on 6-for-11 shooting in the first 20 minutes.

Carleton scored the first four points of the second half for the Cyclones, and Scott continued to put in big minutes off the bench as the Cyclones kept their 14-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the game became very stretched and the Cyclones were able to coast to the finish line and pick up only their second home win in Big 12 play. Senior guard Emily Durr contributed 20 points on 8-for-14 shooting.

The Cyclones moved to 6-9 in Big 12 play. Up next for Iowa State is a road game against Oklahoma, with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
