On Thursday, redshirt sophomore 165-pounder Colston DiBlasi told the Des Moines Register he asked for and received a full release from Iowa State.

DiBlasi is the fifth departure from the Cyclone wrestling program, following Daniel Vega, Jonathan Marmolejo, Gavin DeWitt and Kanen Storr.

DiBlasi told the Register disagreements with the current Iowa State coaching staff led to his decision to leave. DiBlasi originally committed to Kevin Jackson after a 174-17 high school career.

On top of his decision to leave, Colston’s younger brother, Weston, asked to be released from his National Letter of Intent from Iowa State.

Colston began the 2017-18 season wrestling at 157-pounds, but the redshirt sophomore transitioned to 165-pounds throughout the season.

DiBlasi competed in two duals this season — both at 165-pounds — finishing 0-2 against Wyoming and Rider.
