Iowa State football lands four-star receiver

After taking his official visit to Ames this weekend, four-star wide receiver Joseph Scates pledged his commitment to Matt Campbell and the Iowa State football team.
Scates is a senior at Dunbar High School in Dayton, Ohio. The 6-foot-3 receiver held offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Michigan State, LSU, Oklahoma and West Virginia, among a host of other Division I schools.
According to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings, Scates ranks as the 55th-best receiver in the country and the No. 11 prospect in the state of Ohio. Scates is also Campbell’s highest-rated commit since he has arrived in Ames.
In his senior season, Scates caught 37 passes for 966 yards and 20 touchdowns. Scates becomes the third receiver to commit to the Cyclones in the class of 2018.
