After a 20-16 loss at West Virginia yesterday, Iowa State football dropped down in the AP Top 25 poll to No. 24. This is the third straight week the Cyclones have been ranked in the top 25.

Iowa State’s top 25 journey started on Oct. 22 when the Cyclones squeaked in at No. 25. That was the first time the football program was ranked in the AP Top 25 since 2005.

After defeating TCU 14-7 during homecoming, Iowa State jumped up in the poll to No. 14. The highest ranking for Iowa State since 2002 when it was ranked No. 9.

Then, on Oct. 31, the College Football Playoff (CFP) poll was released for the first time this season and the Cyclones saw their name on the list at No. 15. This was the first-time Iowa State was placed in the CFP poll since the poll first began in 2014. The newest CFP poll will be released this Tuesday.

Iowa State has a chance to move up in the poll after it hosts No. 12 Oklahoma State on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Jack Trice Stadium.
