Cyclone Hockey loses in shootout to UNLV

It came down to the last shot of the shootout for UNLV to top Iowa State and tie the series 1-1 over the weekend.

UNLV took the lead early in the second period when Chase Torontow gave the Rebels a 1-0 lead with 4:06 left in the second quarter.

The Cyclones came back in the third period with a goal of their own. Aaron Azevedo connected for a goal to tie the game 1-1.

That score would stay the same until the end of the third period. That meant hockey fans got extra for their ticket as the game went into overtime.

A scoreless overtime led both teams to a shootout. It took until the fifth round of shootouts for someone to put the puck in the goal. UNLV took the shootout and won the game.

Iowa State dropped to 9-3-0 after the loss, but will get ready for a week of practice before heading to Champaign, Illinois, to take on the University of Illinois on Nov. 3 and 4.
