Second day of Marquette Intercollegiate in the books

As the colder weather begins to subside, providing favorable conditions on the green, Tank lead the team through their first practice of the season at the Coldwater Golf Links southeast of campus.

The second day of competition in the Marquette Intercollegiate at the Erin Hills golf course concluded today. 

The Cyclones’ men’s golf team improved on the second round, but not enough to improve on the leadership boards with a score of 612 (310-302), placing them in 14th.

The Cyclones are still five strokes ahead of last place Northern Illinois 617 (312-305). But are trailing five behind 13th place Augusta 607 (304-303).

Currently in first place is Texas A&M 580 (293-287), rising three spots and bumping off South Florida to sixth place. Behind the Aggies is UCLA 581 (300-281) and host Marquette 586 (290-296).

The Cyclones saw improvement in their individual scores, but weren’t enough to see huge improvement in the player leadership board.

Austin Kendziorski, 139 (67-72), is still in first place on the player leadership board.

Lachlan Barker posted another 73 bringing his score to a 146 (73-73). He kept even for most of the holes, bogeyed in five holes, and having two birdies, and an eagle on a 594-yard hole.

Barker is tied for 12th place overall out of 87, jumping two spots since the last round.

Denzel Ieremia rose 36 spots on the player leadership and is now tied for 27th. He improved on the second round and posted a 71 to bring his score to a 150 (79-71). He had two birdies and a bogey.

Sophomore Tripp Kinney fired an 82 and brought his score to a 159 (77-82). His second round consisted of 5 bogeys, one of which he went five over par. He is now tied for 72nd place, dropping 20 spots.

Frank Lindwall ended the second round of competition tied for 77th. His 78 bring his score to a 160 (82-78). He rose five spots after two birdies and seven bogeys.

Danny Daniels 161 (81-80) is now tied for 79th, dropping one spot. He fired a Cyclone high of four birdies, but had six bogeys. And just like fellow teammate Kinney fired a 10-stroke hole.

The third and last round of competition concludes tomorrow.
