Iowa State pulls off another upset with win over No. 4 TCU

No. 25 Iowa State (6-2, 4-1 Big 12) pulled off one of its biggest wins in history today with a 14-7 win over No. 4 TCU (7-1, 4-1 Big 12).

Iowa State got the scoring started on its second drive of the game. The Cyclones drove 85 yards in nine plays. Matt Eaton capped off the possession with a 17-yard touchdown reception on a pass from Kyle Kempt. That ended up being the only score of the first quarter. 7-0, Iowa State

Iowa State then scored on an 11-play, 82-yard drive late in the second quarter. The drive ended in a touchdown pass from Kempt to Hakeem Butler from four yards out. That was the halftime score as the Cyclones held TCU scoreless. 14-0, Iowa State

KaVontae Turpin got TCU’s second half started right. The TCU kick returner took the second half opening kickoff 94 yards to the house, giving TCU its first score of the afternoon. 14-7, Iowa State

Iowa State’s defense held on late to seal the win. Marcel Spears Jr. intercepted Kenny Hill’s pass with 1:16 to go to end the game.

The Cyclones now control their own destiny in the Big 12 and hold tiebreakers over Oklahoma and TCU atop the Big 12 standings.
