As a former Ames City Councilperson I’ve gotten to know many of the leaders in our great community. John Haila stands out among that group and will be my choice for the next Mayor of Ames.

Whether he was representing the Campustown Action Association as its president, building owners as a career engineer and local business owner or his neighborhood as a private citizen, I could always count on John to bring intelligent, well reasoned arguments to council and to do so in a respectful manner.

John [Haila]’s work ethic, dedication to Ames and leadership ability have been well documented. Beyond that, we must remember what makes politics still work at the local level… respect, balance and willingness to work with people of different viewpoints. By representing these values, John Haila is the type of individual we should strive to have serving at all levels of political office.
