Iowa State women’s golf starts in second place after first day

The first day of the East and West match play in Madison, Wisconsin concluded today, and the Iowa State women’s team is in second place with a total score of 575.
The Cyclones (280, 295) are extremely close to first-place Oregon (282,291) with a total score of 573. If the Cyclones play smart and conservatively they can sneak up into first place and pass Oregon.
Senior Celia Barquin leads the Cyclones with the score of 72 after averaging seven birdies. Barquin shot even during the first five holes.
Senior Nattapan Siritrai scored a total of five birdies in holes 3, 4, 10, 14 and on the last hole. Siritrai also two bogeys with a total score of 75.
Junior Chayanit Wangmahaporn shot five birdies on holes 3, 4, 9, 13 and 14. Wangmahaporn also shot for five bogeys with a total score of 74.
Sophomore Amelia Grohn shot three birdies on holes 4, 15, and 17 along with only one bogey with a total score of 74 tying with Wangmahaporn.
Freshman Alana Campbell shot six birdies on holes 4, 7, 8, 13, 14 and 17 with only one triple bogey on hole 9 with a total score of 80.
Freshman T’zu-Yu Chou scored four birdies, three triple bogeys, and two bogeys with a total score of 80 tying with Campbell.
The Cyclones will participate in day two of East and West match play competition in Madison tomorrow.
