The Iowa State women’s soccer team just couldn’t find an all-important second goal.

The Cyclones had their chances in the second half but fell 2-1 to California State Fullerton on Friday night.

Sophomore goalkeeper Antonio Reyes made her first career start, taking the place of freshman Dayja Schwichtenberg and playing 45 minutes in her home state.

The Cyclones had two chances in the first ten minutes, as freshman winger Abigail Harbin fired just wide form outside the box.

Fullerton took the lead in the 41st minute with a goal from senior forward Sarah Fajnor. The Titans doubled their tally in the 48th minute through senior midfielder/defender Kaycee Hoover.

The Cyclones pushed and had their chances to get back into the game, but it wasn’t until the 90th minute that junior forward Klasey Medelberg scored to make it 2-1.

While both teams had six corners on the night, the Cyclones were outshot 11-7 by the Titans.

USC, ranked No. 12, awaits on Sunday for the Cyclones. Kickoff from Los Angeles is expected to be at 2 p.m.
