Iowa State volleyball opens spring season at UNI tournament

The Iowa State volleyball team opened their spring season Saturday at the UNI Spring Tournament in Cedar Falls.

Iowa State played four, two-set matches against Iowa, UNI, Iowa Ice, and Drake.

The Cyclones split two sets with Iowa losing the first 30-32 and winning the second, 25-15.

UNI swept Iowa State in round two of the tournament by scores of 21-25 and 18-25.

In round three, Iowa and Iowa State split the two sets. The Cyclones took the first set 25-22, but were unable to take the second, falling 22-25.

In the final round of the day, Iowa State went up against Drake. The Bulldogs took the first set 19-25, but the Cyclones responded by taking set two, 25-11.

Hali Hillegas had a solid day at libero, recording four service aces and 19 digs.

Up next, the Cyclones return home to host the Iowa State Spring Tournament Saturday, April 15. Iowa State takes on Omaha at 10 a.m., North Dakota at 11:15 a.m. and UNI at 1:30 p.m.
