The first of two track meets in Arizona for the Cyclones wrapped up mid-day on Friday. Wyatt Rhoads was the lone male competing for Iowa State in the Jim Click Shootout in Tucson, featuring decathlon and heptathlon events.

Rhoads didn’t end up winning the decathlon, he did end up setting multiple personal records en route to a fourth-place finish, also a personal best. He finished with 6,558 total points, beating his previous best of 6,494 points.

Of the 10 events, Rhoads beat his old records in six of them.

Here’s a look at his new records over the two-day meet:

  • 100-meter dash (11.52 seconds)
  • High jump (5 feet 11 ½ inches)
  • 400-meter dash (50.10 seconds) finished in second place
  • Discus (107 feet 1 inch)
  • Javelin (166 feet 10 inches) second best in event
  • 1500-meter run (4:36.02) finished in first place

Winning the 1500-meter run was the cherry on top for Rhoads, who will look to continue this success into the next meet.
