The show that brought you iconic tunes such as “It’s The Hard Knock Life” and “Tomorrow” is coming to Ames this weekend. One of America’s most loved musicals takes the Stephens Auditoriums stage Saturday, April 1 at 2 p.m. and at 7:30p.m.

Annie is celebrating 40 years on Broadway in April. It debuted April 21, 1977 and has had over 2,300 performances across the globe in 28 languages.

Although the show has been preformed for almost four decades, the current tour features the original lyricist and director, Martin Charnin. This production will be very similar to the original that America fell in love with.

This tour features a young cast that has been very active on social media, using @ANNIEontour on twitter and Annie The Musical on Facebook, they are also updating live on their official website under the Social Feed tab.

The Tony Award-winning production’s accounts are filled with fun posts that give a look to see what is happening every step of the tour rather than the usual advertisements for the show and what their tour dates are.

Major Broadway shows typically do have social media accounts, but what makes this unique is the content they share.

For example, they pictured Annie, played by Tori Bates, and the two rescue terrier mixes Sunny and Macy that play Sandy, the lead dog in the musical, on national puppy day.

The larger portion of posts include Sandy, who steals the spotlight from Annie, not on stage, but the social media pages. The audience is interested in how these four legged friends are doing throughout the tour.

The productions twitter page also tweeted the dog trainer’s personal account so fans can follow the dogs’ entire journey.

Rush tickets will be available Thursday to all ISU students for a price of $25. The ticket prices for non-students will range from $78, $65 and $42.
