The Iowa State gymnastics team had its highest team score of the season on Saturday at Arizona, but suffered its first loss this season, 195.850-194.325.

Haylee Young and Meaghan Sievers led the way on the uneven bars to get the meet started, each with a score of 9.850.

The Cyclones trailed 48.300-48.575 after the first rotation.

The Wildcats extended their lead to 97.800-96.825 at the midway point but then the comeback attempt began for the Cyclones.

Courtney Middelkoop and Hilary Green each started the floor exercise with season highs and Young finished it off with a 9.900, a meet high. The 48.875 was the highest team score on any event this season for Iowa State.

Despite the season high, the Cyclones trailed heading into the final rotation, 146.775-145.700 and ultimately fell to the Wildcats, 195.850-194.325.

Iowa State will be back in action next Friday against Oklahoma in the second Beauty and the Beast meet of the season.
