Sidewalks and roads icy, local police departments warn community of conditions

The Iowa State Police Department and the Ames Police Department are advising that Ames and Central Iowa community members drive safe early Tuesday morning.
Streets and sidewalks are covered in ice. Please slow down this morning as FP&M works to overcome Mother Nature. ❄️

As of 8 a.m. there is a Winter Weather Advisory in affect for the Ames area until 3 p.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Rain, snow and freezing rain are possible before 3 p.m. and there is slight chance of freezing rain before 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Streets are totally ice covered. Avoid hyland and Dakota hills. Slow down! Multiple accidents. Street Dept is out w/ trucks.
