ISU track and field has successful first day at Jim Duncan Invite

Season best performances and multiple first place finishes were seen at the Jim Duncan Invitational at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. The Cyclones opened up the two-day long meet with successful peformances. 

Dan Curts, the lone Cyclone that traveled to the Bryan Clay Invite in California, ran the 1,500-meter and earned a personal best at 3:45.90 and finished in sixth place. 

Jalen Ford took first place in the men’s high jump with a 6-8 3/4 jump, a season best for the sophomore. 

Nace Plesko, a Slovenian, took first place in the men’s shot put. A throw of 57-4 1/4 was a personal best. 

Nolan McKenna earned a fifth place finish with a time of 15:01.04 in the 5,000 while Trey Achterhoff earned a fourth place finish in the javelin with 172-0.

The Cyclones will pick back up tomorrow at the Jim Duncan Invite in Des Moines at 9:30 a.m.
