Sanderson places in top-ten nationally

Not only did Taylor Sanderson’s performance at the Jim Click Shootout Multi’s move him into the top-10 in the nation, Sanderson also got earned a personal best score in the decathlon finishing with 7,471 points.  

The meet, hosted by University of Arizona in Tucson, saw Sanderson and Wyatt Rhoads with second and third place finishes.

Sanderson had a best throw in the javelin at 176-3 and a personal best in the 110-meter hurdles crossing the line at 14.55, finishing in first place in both events. Sanderson took second place in the discus and third in the pole vault.

Wyatt Rhoads, who made his debut in the decathlon, earned 6,287 points, making it a powerful first performance. The freshman was strong in the running events and took first place in the 1,500-meter with a time of 4:31.63, seconds faster than Sanderson who finished in second place.

At noon on Saturday, the Cyclones will compete at the Sun Angel Track Classic, which is hosted by Arizona State University. Changes have been made to the entries at the competition tomorrow.
