ISU opens outdoor season at Tulsa Invite

The ISU track and field team kicked off its outdoor season this weekend at the Tulsa Duals in Tulsa, Okla.

Deon Sanders took first place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.18. Jacob Hoogensen took fourth in the 400-meter finishing with a time of 50.04.

In the 400-meter hurdles, three out of the top four places were Cyclones. Derek Jones took first place with a time of 53.39, while Elijah Young took second and Davis Eldridge. Jalen Ford competed in the high jump and took first place finishing with 2.05m. 

In the discus, Nace Plesko finished in first place with a final throw of 49.34m. Sanderson took seventh place in the same event with a finishing score of 39.07. 

Elijah Young took second place in the 110-meter hurdles with a final time of 14.59, while freshman Wyatt Rhodes took fifth place finishing at 15:56.

Greyson Dolezal, a freshman and lone Cyclone in the 1500-meter run, finished in fourth place with a time of 4:07.13. Nolan McKenna took second place in the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:58:12.

The 4×400 relay consisting of Sanders, Jones, Hoogensen and David Eldridge took a first place finish with a time of 3:19.13.

The ISU track and field will be back in action at the Stanford Invitational on Apr. 1-2.
