Iowa State falls to Virginia in the Sweet 16

Iowa State senior forward Georges Niang shoots past Virginia guard Malcolm Brogdon at the Sweet 16 on March 25. Niang scored 30 points. He is now the fifth player to score at least 28 points in three straight NCAA Tournament games and is the first since Jimmer Fredette of BYU in 2011. ISU fell 84-71. Virginia will advance to the Elite Eight on March 27 in Chicago.

No. 4 seed Iowa State played No. 1 seed Virginia in the Sweet 16 and fell 84-71 on March 25. Seniors Abdel Nader, Georges Niang and Jameel McKay finished their season at the United Center in Chicago.
