Top three takeaways from the Academic and Student Affairs committee
March 9, 2016
An Iowa Board of Regents subcommittee, the Academic and Student Affairs committee, met on Iowa State’s campus Wednesday to discuss the success of undergraduate and graduate programs created in 2010.
These programs include:
- bachelor of science in event management
- master of engineering in civil engineering
- master of engineering in information assurance
- master of engineering in materials science and engineering.
Here are the top three take-aways from the meeting:
- The event management, an undergraduate program, has seen major success. In 2011, enrollment was at 130; today, enrollment is 360.
- The masters in engineering in information assurance has also seen success, and is currently one of biggest growing fields for post-graduate engineering education.
- Concerns of cyber security were raised in the discussion on the masters in engineering in information assurance, since students’ coursework includes building computer networks to attack and defend against one another.
