Following spring break, events will be held for students all week in the Memorial Union, Stephens Auditorium and the Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship. Many of these events are completely free, making them both accessible and affordable.
A series of craft events will be held at the Memorial Union this week, with a different open craft featured each day in the Workspace.
From March 24-28, there will be a wood-burned art and a zodiac-themed painting craft from 2-9 p.m. and March 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will also be a gemstone earring-making craft in the Workspace on March 26th.
For other entertainment in the Memorial Union, Cyclone Cinema will be holding “A Complete Unknown” March 27-29 at 7 p.m. The movie will be shown in Carver 101 and attending is free, with cheap concessions available for purchase.
“Grandma Mojo’s Improv,” Iowa State’s premier student improv comedy troupe, will perform in the Maintenance Shop at 8 p.m. on March 26.
A Global Gala will be held by Student Engagement in the Durham Great Hall of the Memorial Union at 6 p.m. The event aims to celebrate cultures through music, dance and fashion.
At Stephens Auditorium, many performing arts shows are to be held.
On March 24, the Youth Matinee Series “Pete the Cat” will be shown for $4 and up at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
“Shamrock Tenors,” an Irish music group known for their classical Irish songs, will perform on March 25 at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $30.
Finally, on March 29 at 7:30 p.m., “Dirty Dancing In Concert” will be held in Stephens Auditorium. The event will feature a live band performing all the hits from the 1987 film in front of a full-size movie screen.
The Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship will host the Start Something Series from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 26. According to the Pappajohn Center’s website, the series aims to “inspire and teach the skillsets needed to start something.”
They will also host the Smart Start Workshop, which educates potential entrepreneurs on how to start a business, on March 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
