Cyclones sit in 2nd after 1 day at MountainView Collegiate

Senior Chonlada Chayanun competed in her final tournament as a Cyclone at the NCAA regional tournament in Raleigh, N.C. She tied for 12th place out of 96 golfers.

ISU women’s golf sits in second place in the MountainView Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz., after two rounds of play Friday.

Iowa State finished with a total team score of 290 (+2) after the first round and 288 (E) in the second round, bringing the tournament total to 578 (+2). The Cyclones are eight strokes behind the first place team Georgia.

In the second round, the Cyclones were led in scoring by sophomore Parinda Phokan, who shot a round total of 70 (-2).

Georgia freshman Jillian Hollis sits atop the individual leaderboard with a total score of 133 (-11). There are four golfers tied for second place, including Iowa State’s freshman Chayanit Wangmahaporn, with a score of 142 (-2).
