Georges Niang reached a career milestone, but his Cyclones couldn’t get out of Waco, Texas, with a victory as Iowa State fell to Baylor in overtime on Tuesday night.

Niang scored 24 points, surpassing his former coach Fred Hoiberg and moving into the third spot on Iowa State’s career scoring list, but Iowa State (18-8, 7-6 Big 12) couldn’t find an answer on the defensive end for Baylor (19-7, 8-5 Big 12). The Bears hung 100 points on the scoreboard, beating Iowa State 100-91.

Johnathan Motley dominated in the low post and paced Baylor with 27 points, tying his career high that he set earlier this year against Iowa State.

Iowa State had a shot to win the game in regulation after Deonte Burton had a game-saving block, but Iowa State was unable to convert on its final possession. Monté Morris hit a jumper off of a rebound but the officials waved off the bucket as Morris didn’t get the shot off in time.

Iowa State was outscored 19-10 in overtime and was short-handed with three players fouling out in the game. Iowa State struggled to find production off the bench, with zero bench points in the game.

Abdel Nader led Iowa State with 26 points, followed by Niang’s 24 points and Morris scored 20 in the loss.
