Four Summer Midwest Music Festivals to Help You Keep Your Mind Off Winter

Summer is filled with scorching weather, lots of free time, and a whole lot more music. To help you get through the long winter ahead, here is four summer music festivals to check out in Iowa and the Midwest to take your mind off of the long winter ahead.

Bonnaroo – Bonnaroo is located in Manchester, Tennessee. Next year Bonnaroo will celebrate it’s 15th year as a music and arts festival. In recent years, Bonnaroo has rostered big name artists like: Kanye West, Paul McCartney, Billy Joel, Kendrick Lamar and Sir. Elton John. Bonnaroo has a wide variety of musical artists encompassing a lot of different genres. Bonnaroo will be held June 9-12, 2016.

Lollapolooza –  Located at Grant Park in Downtown Chicago. Lollapolooza started as a touring music festival by Jane’s Addiction frontman, Perry Farrel. Lollapolooza is now one of the biggest music festivals in the U.S., attracting nearly 300,000 attendees this year alone. Lollapolooza has rostered artists like Eminem, Lorde, Calvin Harris and Kings of Leon. Lollapolooza will held next year at Grant Park on July 29-31.

Hinterland – If you’re not looking to head out of state for a music festival, head down to St. Charles, Iowa for Hinterland. Hinterland is a brand new festival in the Greater Des Moines Area. Hinterland got it’s start this year and rostered artists like Brandi Carlile, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes and Old Crow Medicine Show. Hinterland will be at Avenue of the Saints Amphitheater on Aug. 5-6.

80/35 – 80/35 is a music and arts festival located at Western Gateway Park in Downtown Des Moines. 80/35 rostered a wide variety of artists this past year, artists’ included Talib Kwali, Run The Jewels, Wilco, and Weezer. 80/35 returns July 8-9, 2016 for it’s eighth year.
