Monté Morris finds motivation from Pan America cut
July 12, 2015
Junior ISU point guard Monté Morris has been gaining motivation for the upcoming season to prove he is the Big 12’s best point guard.
Now, he has more fuel to add to the fire.
Back in May, Morris was invited to participate in tryouts for the Pan American United States men’s basketball team. On July 9, he was cut from the team.
“I went out there everyday but unfortunately it wasn’t enough,” Morris said.
With Morris being cut early in the team-selecting process, he believes it will serve as extra motivation for his upcoming season.
“I told everyone when they see me again, it will be in Houston [the site for next years Final Four],” Morris said.
The process was not a total loss for Morris, though. Along with the motivation to prove he is one of the best point guards in the nation, he was also able to pick the minds of professional and top current college point guards.
“I picked a lot of Bobby Brown’s brain, who currently plays in China, about pick roll situations in take for my game,” Morris said. “I was also able to compete against Melo Tremble of Maryland and Fred Van Fleet of Wichita State as well.”
Morris also showed his gratitude for the opportunity on Twitter.
Thanks @usabasketball for the opportunity best wishes going forward

Morris would not reveal what he has been working on this off season but he made sure to make one thing clear, he wants the ISU faithful and everyone else around the nation to see him and the rest of the Iowa State team in Houston come Final Four time.
