It was an Iowa welcoming at Joni Ernst’s inaugural “Roast and Ride” event.

As potential Republican presidential candidates rode in to Boone, Iowa on their Harley-Davidson motorcycles, a crowd eagerly swarmed awaiting their speeches.

Seven GOP presidential hopefuls gave eight-minute speeches at the event on how they plan to improve America if they become the country’s next leader.

The speakers included former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, former HP CEO Carly Fiorina, retired neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

Candidates focused on the problems facing America, including the threat of ISIS and the national economy. They also talked about how the country needs a leader who understands these problems and knows how to fix them.

“America needs a leader who isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo,” Fiorina said.

And there was no shortage of jabs at Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton.

“Hillary Clinton was going to come today, but she was scared the crowd will ask her a question,” Graham said.

Graham, among other speakers, thanked Ernst for the opportunity to deliver their messages to a large crowd at the Central Iowa Expo.

Ernst said she hopes to host the event every year and believes it will be twice as big next year.
