Cyclone Hockey named seniors Alex Stephens and Corey Sellers the team’s co-captains for the 2015-16 season at the team’s annual banquet during the weekend.

It will be the first time in at least five years the team will don two players with the “C” on their chest. The decision was reached after a team vote.

Stephens, a forward, played in 42 games during the 2014-15 season and scored four goals while assisting on nine. He owned a plus/minus rating of plus 13.

He contributed to the Cyclones’ quarterfinal run in this season’s American Collegiate Hockey Association National Tournament, grabbing an assist in the victory against Oklahoma.

In his career at Iowa State, the 195 pounder has nine goals in the 106 games he has played in.

The 6-foot-3-inch defenseman Sellers scored three goals and tacked on five assists in the 32 games he played last season. He was a plus 5 as well.

As a sophomore, Sellers had his best season with the Cyclones, going plus 27 with 14 points. He played in all but two of the games that season.

Sellers and Stephens will take over the captain role from Mike Dopko, who will be among the nine seniors graduating.
