The Lowdown

Just hours after claiming a fifth-set replay to reverse the result from last month’s loss at Texas Tech, the ISU volleyball team defeated Texas Tech in the teams’ regularly scheduled match, 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-22).

Iowa State came out firing on all cylinders, hitting a whopping .464 in the first set, and that frame set the tone the rest of the night. Though the Red Raiders got closer and closer to winning a set as the match progressed, the Cyclones were ultimately to much to handle.

X-Factor

Victoria Hurtt – The senior outside hitter led the ISU attack with 14 kills, while tallying only two errors on 35 attacks to hit .343 on the night.

By the Numbers

.293 – Hitting percentage for the Cyclones, who in turn allowed the Red Raiders to hit just .179.

2 – The biggest deficit Iowa State faced in the match. Texas Tech held two-point leads twice, one coming in the early-goings of both sets two and three.

1,009 – Career kills for Hurtt, who hit the quadruple-digit mark with her fifth kill. She is just the ninth Cyclone to reach the mark in team history.

21 – Digs for ISU libero Caitlin Nolan. The Big 12 Libero of the Year front-runner dug up just three balls in the first set, but finished strong for her 15th match of the season with at least 20 digs.
