ISU soccer falls to South Dakota State

After a 2-0 shutout against Drake on Sept. 19, the ISU soccer team lost 2-1 against South Dakota State on Sept. 21.

With 18:20 remaining in the first half, sophomore Koree Willer scored from 10 yards out with an assist from senior Hayley Womack to put the Cyclones up 1-0.

As the Cyclones and Jackrabbits went shot-for-shot, South Dakota State scored a goal with 10:22 remaining in the first half, tying the score at 1-1.

Then with the clock running out on the first half, South Dakota State scored another goal, putting the Jackrabbits up 2-1 going into the second half.

Iowa State showed urgency late in the second half as it tried to fight back, but it could not come up with a goal to rally. The second half went scoreless.

Iowa State will begin Big 12 play against Oklahoma State on Sept. 26 in Stillwater, Okla.
